The seven-hundred and twenty-ninth volume of the Archives of Maryland consists of records of the 1798 Federal Direct Tax as it pertained to the State of Maryland. The volume contains images of the extant 1798 Maryland tax lists. Additional material includes a spreadsheet of household returns aggregated by hundred or Baltimore City ward for comparative purposes (courtesy of Professor Carole Shammas) and an introduction.
