Dorchester County Court, Chattel Records, 1842-1847

The seven hundred and seventy-fourth volume of the Archives of Maryland Online was originally created between 1842-1847. The Archives of Maryland edition was published in 2009 by the Maryland State Archives. This volume contains bills of sale for personal property. Recorded sales include cattle, horses, tobacco, wheat, farm implements, furniture, wagons, and ships. Prior to the Civil War, the sale of slaves was also recorded in the chattel records.
